Sources Sought N00178-98-Q-1083, jswilli@nswc.navy.mil. The Naval
Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division is seeking to identify
sources capable of performing a Fixed Aimed Warhead Study. This
three-month study is to determine anti-air subsystem requirements for
use of a fixed aimed warhead. The warhead is fixed in the missile and
projects fragments in one direction normal to the missile's
longitudinal axis. The missile must roll so that its position at the
end game will allow projection of the fragments at the target. The
following question must be addressed: What are the implications to the
airframe, guidance, fuzing, and other missile components, which allow
use of such a warhead? This study will examine three missile size
classes corresponding to SIDEWINDER, SPARROW, and STANDARD Missiles.
All missiles are assumed to be tail controlled. Two types of targets
will be specified for each missile class. The terminal engagement
conditions for each of the targets will be specified. A critical
parameter is expected to be how far in advance before warhead
initiation can the sensors predict the relative position of the
interceptor and target at warhead burst? If miss distance is an
important parameter in predicting this relative position, then the miss
distance will be varied parametrically. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT
ANNOUNCEMENT AND A SOLICITATION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. Interested
concerns are requested to submit capability statements (two copies)
identifying the ability to provide the specified Fixed Aimed Warhead
Study by 30 June 1998 referencing Sources Sought Announcement
