(301)713-0854 58 -- The U.S. Dept. of Commerce/NMFS has a need for
thirty (30) satellite transmitters that will be used to investigate the
migratory movements of endangered hawksbill adult female turtles in the
Wider Caribbean and to investigate the migratory movements and
reproductive behavior of adult loggerheads captured from Florida Bay
and nesting along the central-east and southwest coasts of Florida.
NMFS intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Telonics, Inc. of
Mesa, Arizona to provide proprietary satellite platform terminal
transmitters that are used in the biotelemetry of sea turtles. These
transmitters are backpack equipped and use the ARGOS satellite system.
No solicitation package exists; therefore a request for such package
will not be considered. Other parties that have the ability to provide
this type of equipment are invited to submit information as to their
capabilities and any other pertinent data to the address above, to be
received no later than 10 days from the date of this notice. Award will
be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures. (Reference No. 8-4244)
