Regina M. Herchak, Contracting Officer The USDA, Agricultural Research
Services (ARS), Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) requires
that all labor, supervision, tools and materials be provided to upgrade
the existing fire alarm system in the main containment laboratory
building. The Plum Island Animal Disease Center is a quarantine
research and diagnostic facility on Plum Island, New York, which is
1-1/2 miles off the north fork of Long Island, New York. Work includes,
but is not limited to, furnishing and installing an addressable fire
alarm system control panel and associated remote annunciator panels, a
graphic user interface, a printer, and additional devices throughout
the building(s). In addition, work includes the installation of 25 new
sprinkler heads and relocating approximately 166 sprinkler heads to
the correct height. The Contractor shall provide all conduit, wiring,
and penetrations to effect a complete functioning system. The estimated
cost of construction is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The project
must be completed120 days after receipt of the notice to proceed.
Solicitation No. 07-3615-98 contains further information and the plans
and specifications will be available on or about June 22, 1998.
