Professional services are requested as Course Coordinator for the East
Central Europe/Romania Advances Area Studies course. Courses are held
at the Foreign Service Institute, 4000 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington,
VA 22204. The East Central Europe/Romania Advances Studies course is
organized and conducted by the Course Coordinator who also brings in
area experts from Universities, Government and Private organizations.
The seminar combines lectures, discussions, participatory activities by
class members, readings, and audio-visual materials in order to
highlight the key historical, political, economic, and socio-cultural
themes for the region as well as American interests interests and
policy issues in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic. The
Advances Area studies courses within the Foreign Service Institute s
School of Professional and Area Studies offer country-specificity and
are closely related to concurrent language training. Generally meeting
for the duration of the language course, area studies are designed to
teach people how to communicate in the countries and cultures to which
