Hill, christopher.l.hill1@jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a
Request for Quotations (RFQ) for 6 SCSI Flash Disks in support of the
X-38(vehicle 201) Project's DTO Data Recording System. As a result of
detailed design, analysis, and test, the SCSI Flash Disks previously
developed for the V-131 and V-132 vehicles was selected for the X-CRV
DTO Data Recorders, because of its ability to meet all of the design
requirements. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Targa
Electronics Systems (TES). The government has choosen to use TES as the
sole source vendor because of their ability to produce flash disks
which are directly compatable with already existing project software.
As a result of their use onboard the V-131 and V-132 vehicles, Command
and Control software to execute I O operations using the Targa drives
have already been developed by NASA personnel, therefore a reduction
in time and cost associated with software development for these drives
will be avoided with this procurement. The Government intends to
acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. An Ombudsman has been
appointed. See Internet Note "B". Interested firms have 15 days from
the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified
point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such
qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of
determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive
basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required
information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will
not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete
this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon
responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFQ.
All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be
considered by the agency. Any referenced notes can be viewed at the
