Lyle Norton, (404) 635-5632, Contract Officer. The Southeast Regional
Office of the Bureau of Prisons intends to award a contract to a
medical service provider within a 75 mile radius of the institution
where services are to be provided. The Federal Bureau of Prisons
reserves the ri~ght to award a single or multiple contracts whichever
is most advantageous to the Government. The medical services required
will include, but may not be limited to: inpatient, room, board and
ancillary services, outpatient services, medically necessary
professional services as appropriate in a comprehensive package as
requested. The medical service provider shall make available on a
nondiscriminatory basis, inpatient and outpatient services, in a manner
consistent with the medical needs of the patients in accordance with
medical standards for quality and cost effective patient care. The
preferred payment methodology for these services (which will receive
preference in both award and patient referrals) is the Medicare
reimbursement methodologies in effect at the time theservices are
preformed. All services (usually outpatient) not covered by Medicare,
shall be charges as low or lower than those charged the hospital's most
favored customer for comparable quantities under similar terms and
conditions. The medical care will be for Federal Prisoners incarcerated
on the Federal Prison Camp located on Eglin Air Force Base near Ft.
Walton Beach, Florida. All requests for solicitation packages or
information must be in writing and include the RFP number, specific
information about the location of your medical facility, and the name
of the contact person and telephone number. The estimated date of the
Request for Proposal is June 8, 1998, with and anticipated receipt of
proposal date of August 14, 1998. The contract period will include a
base year not to exceed twelve months with four -- one year option
periods for renewals. Date of award is estimated to be around October
1, 1998 with each option year to coincide with each following fiscal
year. The estimated inpatient and outpatient days for the base year and
all option year periods are: 45 minimum and 475 maximum. Outpatient
institution (sub-specialty) services will be for varies categories
outlined in the DOS with the minimum number of sessions being
approximately 104 and the maximum at approximately 152 sessions.
