The specifications are provided below: 33 TURN MAGNETIC CONFINEMENT COILS; A) COILS ARE TO BE MADE OF 0.25" SQUARE OFHC CU CONDUCTOR WITH 9/64" DIA. HOLE; B)COILS WILL BE INSULATED WITH DACRON GLASS TAPE W/ A VARNISH OVERCOAT AND WILL BE WET WOUND USING DOLPH EPOXY TO AN OD=19.875" AND ID=10.000"; C)COILS WILL BE TAPED W/ 7MIL GLASS-TAPE; GLASSTAPE TO BE HEAT SHRUNK TO COILS AND BAKED BETWEEN TWO PLATES TO INSURE FLATNESS; D)15 MIL CMC INSULATION BETWEEN TWO COIL STACKS; E)WATER FITTINGS MUST MATCH EXISTING HARDWARE; P/N A1F1-B BY PERFECTING COUPLING CO. FITTINGS ARE ATTACHED USING LOW TEMP SOLDER OR BRAZE; F)COILS TO BE HI-POT TESTED TO 1.5 KV; G)COILS TO BE TESTED TO 500 PSI HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Stonite Coil Corporation, P.O. Box 11036, Yardville, NJ. This sole source is based on system compatibility. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until May 27, 1998, to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/ capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after May 27, 1998, or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
