provided for a service. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for
commercial items, prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart
12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this
notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; Quotations
are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The
solicitation, number N00259-98-Q-0144, is issued a request for
quotations (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions
and clauses are those in effect through FAR 90.46. This solicitation is
100% set-aside for small business. Services to be performed shall be in
accordance with the following statement of work: One time on-site
service for the reconfiguration of the AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)
material handling area within the Pharmacy Department of the Naval
Medical Center San Diego. BACKGROUND The Naval Medical Center San Diego
utilizes Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) to distribute supplies,
medication and other hospital materials. The AGV's are electronically
operated, robotic, wheeled devices that are individually programmable.
AGV's are mobile along a guidance system installed in the floor and
have a dedicated elevator system for floor-to-floor movement. The AGV's
are Government owned AMSCO AMSCAR Model 7000, manufactured by Control
Engineering Company. SCOPE In order to provide additional space in the
Pharmacy Department, a modification to the existing AGV Guidance
System is required. The contractor shall reconfigure the AGV material
handling area, within the Pharmacy Department at the Naval Medical
Center San Diego as stated below: 1. Of the four existing spurs (2
auto-load, 2 auto-unload) the auto-load spur closest to the elevator
will remain active, the remaining three (3) will be deactivated. 2.
Existing floor positioning pockets for the remaining spur will be
reused. 3. An additional spur will be added between the remaining
existing spur and the elevator shaft wall. This will be used as the
auto-unload spur. 4. The RDP panel will remain at its present location.
5. Floor logic operation will be similar to the other shaft floors,
keeping in mind that there is only one auto-load and one auto-unload
point. 6. Necessary tile removal and replacement. 7. Cutting of a new
guide path, recutting and splicing of existing guide path. 8. On site
commissioning of guide path change. 9. Engineering exact space
requirements to determine wall placement. 10. Engineering and
documentation, as-built submittal. 11. Necessary PLC logic changes. 12.
Necessary control panel wiring changes. 13. Contractor is required to
provide all material, tools, and labor to complete this requirement
except as stated above. This acquisition incorporates the following FAR
