The Bureau of Reclamation's Grand Coulee Project has a requirement to furnish and install a 3-panel, vertical lift door. The door required is a 3-leaf, vertical-travel type to be furnished and installed with sill extensions, guides, counterweights, counterweight enclosures, hardware, operating mechanism, and accessories. The door shall be suitable for operation in a doorway approximately 26-feet 6-5/8-inches high by 30-feet wide with a reinforced concrete beam above the doorway that protrudes approximately 17 and 1/2 inches beyond the interior side of the doorway and slopes up inwardly at a 5 to 1 slope. The Contractor shall furnish and install box-type beams around the vertical interior surface of the doorway to accommodate the protruding concrete beam. The door shall be inside mounted, motor operated, and internally insulated, and shall be designed to deflect not more than 1/120 of its span under a minimum wind load of 20 pounds per square foot and shall be operable under wind loads of 20 pounds per square foot. Each door section shall have bearing guide rollers of sufficient size and number to transmit the wind load from the door panel to the steel door guides. Metal to metal sliding guides will not be permitted. An example of the type of door required is the door manufactured by Electric Power Door Company, Type I, vertical lift door. The Contractor will also be responsible for removing and hauling away the existing roll-up type door. The work is situated near the city of Coulee Dam, Washington in Okanogan County and on the Colville Indian Reservation. Estimated range: $100,000 to $250,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which we will consider. The solicitation will be issued in June 1998.
