Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) plans to request proposals from
qualified firms to perform geotechnical investigations to support
engineering designs for structures, earthwork, and environmental
projects. Investigations will consist of soil and rock drilling;
subsurface sampling of soil, rock, and groundwater; and laboratory
analyses of subsurface materials for structural properties and
environmental contaminants. Investigations will include the preparation
of reports which may include some or all of the following: results from
subsurface investigations and laboratory analyses, preliminary
engineering designs, quality assurance and control for earthwork
construction projects, permit applications for landfills, shoring
designs for excavations, or remediation plans for subsurface
contamination. Although no minimum amount of services will be
guaranteed, services may be requested at any TVA location in Tennessee,
Alabama, and Kentucky over a 3-year period. TVA desires to select a
firm that has a history of successful experience in providing similar
services. Accordingly, in order to be considered, Respondents must have
engineers and geologists registered in each of the three states. It is
also highly desirable that Respondents have in-house capabilities to
provide hollow stem auger, soil boring and sampling, and soil analysis.
The soliciation will be issued approximately May 27, 1998, and
proposals will be due approximately June 19, 1998. Complete information
