22310-3398 A -- RADIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF JOHNSTON ATOLL POC Bill Melanson,
Negotiator, (703) 325-0495, Billy G. Burks, Contracting Officer, (703)
325-5021 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) plans to contract
with Geo Centers, Inc., Newton Centre, MA, to perform a Johnston Island
cleanup analysis. Task One will be to perform a continuous, GPS
integrated, high-resolution multi-spectral, in SITU, detection of
plutonium to levels of 4 PCI/G with high precision and accuracy. Task
Two will take the results of Task One and produce a computer model of
the plutonium dispersion to validate the data compiled in Task One.
Task Three is an assessment of the cleanup standards of Johnston Atoll.
A legally, scientifically defensible, convincing package will be
prepared for submittal to regulators showing a comprehensive analysis
of the cleanup standards established by EPA, NRC, and DOE for
remediation of the sites contaminated with transuranic material. DSWA
believes that Geo Centers, Inc. is the only responsible source that has
the experience in place to conduct the continuing effort in the time
required. See Note 22. Information on DSWA solicitations, already
released, can be obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703)
325-1173. Acquisition Management has added "Procurement Opportunities"
to the DSWA Home Page available on the World Wide Web. Information
will include this synopsis and more. Please check us out at
