602-8000, Extension 568 The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends
enter into an agreement pursuant to Section 845 of the National
Defense Authorization Act for FY 1994, as amended by Section 804 of the
National Defense Authorization Act of FY 1997, with Northrop Grumman
Norden Systems, Inc. (NGNS) of 65 Marcus Drive, Melville, NY 11747. The
purpose of the agreement is to jointly develop a prototype lightweight
antenna under the AN/SPQ-9B Radar Program. NGNS is considered the only
company capable of performing this work, since NGNS is the sole
developer of the AN/SPQ-9B Radar and is the only know source with the
in-depth knowledge and experience capable of developing a lightweight
antenna prototype within the time constraints mandated to meet
shipbuilding schedules. This prototype, development effort is an
engineering change to reduce the current AN/SPQ-9B designed antenna's
weight by approximately sixty percent. Companies interested in
