COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 5,1998 PSA#2088BAA: MANDATORY CENTRAL CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION On all Department of
Defense (DOD) solicitations issued after May 31, 1998, a bidder or
offeror will be ineligible for award unless it is registered in DoD's
Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. That is the new
requirement contained in a final rule published on March 31, and it
applies to all DoD contracts, basic agreements, basic ordering
agreements, and blanket purchase agreements resulting from
solicitations issed after May 31, including those under $100,000
simplified acquisition threshold and those for commercial items. In
addition to the one-time registration, each contractor will be required
"to confirm on an annual basis that its information in the CCR database
is accurate and complete." In compliance with the new Defense Federal
Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARs) clause 252.204-7004, Required
Central Contractor Registration, all Department of Defense (DOD)
solicitations issued after May 31, 1998, a bidder or offeror will be
ineligible for award unless it is registered in DoD's Central
Contractor Registration (CCR) database. There are three ways to
register in DoD's CCR database: (1) Firms that have arranged for
electronic data interchange (EDI) capability through a vale added
network (VAN), can send a transaction set 838, Trading Partner Profile.
(2) Firms can register electronically by accessing on-line CCR form at
the Internet address http://ccr.edi.disa.mil. (3) Firms can complete
a paper registration form and mail or fax the application to the
appropriate Registration Assistance Center. Firms may obtain
information on registration at the Internet address
