INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP INITIATIVE INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP INITIATIVE "Supporting the emergence of a strong manufacturing infrastructure" Your input is needed in defining the needs of the Manufacturing Community! Please log onto the Internet at http://imtr.ornl.gov and respond to our survey! The Integrated Manufacturing Technology Roadmap (IMTR) initiative is making great strides in creating a 15-year plan for manufacturing technology, and we encourage you to log onto the IMTR website and review our progress. The purpose of this message is to request that you participate in our Manufacturing Processes and Equipment questionnaire on the Internet at: http://imtr.ornl.gov. The questionnaire is short and easy to use. Your input is very important to this vital effort! The IMTR objective is to deliver four technology roadmaps that address the critical manufacturing needs of government and industry in the 21st century: Information Systems for Manufacturing, Modeling and Simulation, Manufacturing Processes and Equipment, and Enterprise Integration. The development of the first two roadmaps is already underway. Effort on Manufacturing Processes and Equipment is beginning with this survey. The next step is to use this data in a workshop. The IMTR roadmaps will develop a comprehensive plan that 1) defines critical technology goals and requirements, 2) provides focus for a concentrated effort to achieve these goals, and 3) promotes collaborative R&D in support of critical tasks. These will be used by Government sponsors as guides for planning near- and long-term technology R&D efforts. Thus, they will be valuable tools for industry and academia to guide their R&D plans. If you have any questions, or for more information on the IMTR project, please contact project manager Richard Neal at the Oak Ridge Centers for Manufacturing Technology, P.O. Box 2009, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-8084. (423-574-1862, e-mail nea@ornl.gov). Your participation is greatly appreciated! All respondents will be cited as contributors in the final roadmap documents.
