Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 45 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U. S. Geological Survey, Central Region, Enivronmental and Contaminants Research Center has a need to access an existing sediment quality database. The database shall be a compilation of existing information on matching freshwater sediment chemistry and biological effects data. Specifically, this data shall be compiled from the published literature and through personal contacts with individuals working in the field of freshwater sediment toxicity assessment. Types of data included in the database shall be results of studies evaluating modeling, laboratory testing, and field studies. Detailed documentation regarding the quality of each dataset included in the database (i.e.,description of the methods and available quality control/quality assurance documentation) shall be include. The database shall be formatted using electronic spreadsheets (i.e., Excel). Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c) (1), implemented by FAR 5.302-1, the Government considers the services specified as a sole source from MacDonald Environmental Sciences Limited, 1733 Idaho Place, Nanaimo, British Columbia, V9X 1C6 and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required database are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration.
