Contracting Officer, (301)435-0353 The National Heart, Lung, and Blood
Institute intends to negotiate with the Association of Black
Cardiologists (ABC) to develop a web-based system and maintain the
National Physicians' Network to provide continuing education
opportunities and other information to clinicians and other health
professionals using the latest clinical practice guidelines, working
group reports, and other materials developed by the NHLBI to improve
the cardiovascular health care given to African Americans. The project
includes the creation of a web-site which includes a series of
self-study continuing education programs for African American health
providers and electronic versions of NHLBI's patient/public education
publications. This contract will be for 24 months. The authority for
this action is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1-only
one responsible source. The ABC has a unique capability because they
have recongized credentials in CVD and multi disciplinary membership to
reach the African American health professionals with this Web-based CVD
information. This information then can be disseminated throughout the
