COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 1,1998 PSA#2086Commander, Marine Corps System Command, Code CTQ, 2033 Barnett Avenue,
Ste 315, Quantico, VA 22134-5010 59 -- AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT VEHICLE (AAV7A1) REPLACEMENT DRIVER'S DISPLAY
UNIT SOL M67854-98-R-2107 DUE 052998 POC Peggy Smith, (703) 784-5822
ext. 252 or FAX (703) 784-5826 The Marine Corps Systems Command
(MARCORSYSCOM) invites industry to comment on the specifications for a
replacement to a digital display engine monitoring system now
installed on the Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV7A1). NO SOLICITATION
EXISTS AT THIS TIME. The U.S. Marine Corps is conducting market
research to seek sources, contract vehicles, technical information and
approximate costing for the AAV7A1 replacement digital display system.
The goal of this procurement is to maximize the use of
commercial-off-the-shelf technology while providing the driver with a
digital display system that can operate in the amphibious/tracked
vehicle environment. This system must be capable of providing the
driver of the AAV7A1 readout on fuel level, coolant temperature, engine
oil pressure, transmission oil pressure and battery/alternator system
voltage. It shall provide an indication on the display when the values
are out of the tolerance band. For ease of integration, it should use
the existing sensor wiring harness and connection. Using replacement
sensors is permissible as long as they will interface with the Cummins
903V diesel engine without change to the engine. The display must be
readable in all light conditions and should be compatible with current
night vision technology. The system should meet or exceed the
environmental standards in MIL-STD-810E. It is anticipated that
approximately 800 systems will be procured over a 4-year period. This
request is for information only. For further information on this
effort, including a DRAFT specification, please check the following
Internet address: http://www/marcorsyscom.usmc. mil/mcscctq/ddu.htm.
Based on the DRAFT specification, vendors are requested to provide
comments on the following issues: What are the cost drivers for this
effort? Is there any cost risk or other risk associated with this
effort? Point out unclear/inconsistent requirements. Are there any
overly restrictive requirements? Identify workable and efficient
alternatives. Based upon Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC)
3714, 750 employees, interested sources should also provide
information on their business size (i.e., large, small, 8(a), small
disadvantaged or woman-owned). Interested sources should send
information regarding their business capabilities, business size,
and/or comments regarding the DRAFT specification no later than 29 May
1998 to: Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, ATTN: CTQ2PLS, 2033
Barnett Ave Suite 315, Quantico, VA 22134-5010. Any questions should
be directed to the contact person listed above. THE MARINE CORPS DOES
NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR
INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. (0119) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0312 19980501\59-0030.SOL)
