Hillman, jim.hillman@dfrc.nasa.gov. NASA/DFRC plans to issue a IFB/
Request for Offers for P-8-FM-00094, Repair Fire Alarm System, Building
4840 (RAIF). The work includes the providing of all labor and material,
except identifed Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), to install and
test approximatley 150 Heat Activated Detectors (HADs) in the ceiling
of five (5) high bay aircraft hangars and the installation of five (5)
test HAD enclosures. This work is limited to NEW equipment
installation and DOES NOT include the connection of the new HADs to
existing fire alarm systems. The HADs shall be provided as GFE. No
other material or assistance will be provided. The Government will NOT
provide the use of a "bucket" lift or other tools for this work.
Height of the high bay hangar ceiling is approximately 90 feet. The
contract requires flexible hours. At no time will work be allowed over
an aircraft or in an area where the aircraft mechanic or the
contracting officer determines that the work may jeopardize an
aircraft. The standard work days for this effort shall be on Saturday
and Sunday. Other work days may be scheduled depending upon the
availability of the hangar bays. The order of magnitude for the
procurement is between $25,000 and $100,000 and the effort shall be
completed within 90 calendar days after notice to proceed. This
procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC
Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1731 and
$7.0 Million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB/RFO
is on or about 08MAY98 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or
about 09JUN98. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be
stated in the IFB/RFO. Specification and drawings will be available

All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by
the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement [with
the exception of the specifications and drawings] will be available
over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite
(Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a
World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser

Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to
submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor this
