Davy, Regional Contract Specialist The Federal Bureau of Prisons
intends to award a non personal service contract to the qualified
individual or business capable of providing quality medical assistant
services to the inmate population housed at the Federal Correctional
Institution, Manchester, KY. Services include but are not limited to:
assisting PA's with sick call and patient assessment, chronic care
clinics, A&O physicals, taking x-rays, venapunctures, dressing changes
and vital signs; performing initial assessment of patients for further
evaluation; administering first aid; performing non-invasive and
reversible medical care procedures; performing vision screening and
audiometry testing; performing EKG's. Requirements include but are not
limited to: duties performed shall be performed in accordance with
standards and methods generally excepted within the field of medical
assistance and in compliance with all federal and state policy and
regulations. Contractor shall have a minimum of a background in
medical/technical assistance(i.e. medical assistant, registered nurse,
licensed nurse, former med. student, foreign medical graduate or
physician) and be a high school graduate. A minimum of one years
related experience is required. Contractor must possess current state
licensure or certification. There is an estimated 780 sessions, with a
session being defined as two hours. Three sessions per day will be
scheduled between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday, excluding federal holidays. Schedule is negotiable and will be
determined prior to contract award. The contract period will include a
base year, not to exceed twelve months from date of award, with four
one year option periods. This is a non personal service not to exceed
30 hours per week, and not a personnel appointment. Solicitations will
be issued on May 12, 1998. The anticipated receipt of quotations is
June 24, 1998, with an anticipated effective award date of October 1,
1998. This is 100% set aside for small business. Requests for quotation
