ehill/r4_boise@fs.fed.us. Bagley Valley contains a wet meadow system
which is being drained by an expanding gully network. Past irrigation
practices have altered the natural channel system and the 1997 New
Year's flood event exacerbated this situatin. This project includes the
necessary investigations, surveys, mapping, and analysis required to
prepare a comprehensive Watershed Restoration Plan for the meadows and
streams of Bagley Valley, approx. 4,000 acres in Alpine County,
California. Final products will include NEPA documentation, design,
construction drawings and specifications for the proposed restoration
of Bagley Valley. From Minden, Nevada, the project is located approx.
13 miles south on State Highway 88, at the junction of State Highway 88
and State Highway 89. A preproposal meeting is scheduled for Wed.,
5/29/98 at 9:30 a.m. at the Markleeville Guard Station, Markleeville,
CA, where a field trip to Bagley Valley will follow. Est. start date is
7/98 with 1095 calendar days for completion. See Numbered Note #1.
