D -- EXHIBIT HEALTHCARE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS AND/OR SERVICES DUE 051598 POC Point Of Contact-Delene Snell, Contract Specialist, 703-681-1118, Contracting Officer -- Joyce Ellis 703-681-1131 WEB: Defense Supply Service-Washington, http://www.abc.gov. The Defense Supply Service-Washington, on behalf of The Pacific Regional Program Office (PRPO) at Tripler Army Medical Center, is seeking vendors to exhibit healthcare information technology products and/or services at the Pacific Medical Technology Symposium (PACMEDTek), August 17 -- 21, 1998 at the Hawai'i Convention Center, Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Pacific Command Area of Responsibility covers 51 percent of the earth's surface, and most of the region is ocean. The US Military is responsible for the security of this vast region. The provision of high quality healthcare to our fighting men and women, their spouses and children and military retirees in the region is critical. However, time, geopraphic and procedural barriers limit our ability to optimize healthcare. Over the past several years a number of innovative projects, such as the Akamai Project, PACEMEDNET, CHCS and other medical technologies have transformed the ways in which healthcare is provided. The technological innovations in medicine, computing and communication are allowing us to develop a healthcare system that will transcend the time and distance barriers for our patients, care providers and administrators. Tele-medicine certainly has a critical role in the U.S. Military. It can also have a far-reaching impact on the civilian sector. The introduction of powerful new computer and communication technologies will transform the old industry into a new organization. The availability of healthcare information technology exhibitors at the conference will provide DoD personnel, national and international attendees the opportunity to view and learn about currently available products and services applicable to the management and/or delivery of healthcare through exploiting technology. There will be approximately 1,000 healthcare and technology personnel attending the Symposium from throughout the world. The Pacific Regional Program Office at Tripler Army Medical Center, is seeking vendors to exhibit their products or services for three and one-half (3 1/2) days during the PACMEDTek Symposium, August 17 -- 21, 1998. Products or services must be applicable to management and/or delivery of healthcare through technology exploitation. Vendors should be aware that the primary focus of the conference is on technology as a facilitator of healthcare delivery. Additional information regarding the nature of exhibits sought will be provided in the exhibitor prospectus. Exhibit space will consist of 10' x 10' booths with pipe and drape. The PRPO will make exhibitor selections based on applicability to the conference focus and topical areas, as well as the order of receipt of completed applications. Vendors will also have the ability to participate in a "Vendor Workshop/Commercial Presentation" on Wednesday, August 19th, Thursday, August 20th, or Friday, august 21st, from 7:00 am -- 8:00 am each morning. Ten-minute presentation periods are available for commercial exhibitors to introduce their company and their exhibit. All arrangements will be made through the conference support contractor, Standard Technology, Inc. To obtain an application to exhibit, vendors may write to the PACMEDTek Symposium Office at 5109 Leesburg Pike, Suite 208, Falls Church, Virginia 22041, or call Michelle Shirley at 703-575-5044, or e-mail ms. Shirley at mshirley@tma.osd.mil. (0113)
