54 -- PREFABRICATED STRUCTURE/SCOFFOLDING, AIRCRAFT JACK STANDS SOL n/a DUE 051398 POC Contact, Linda Ramirez, 602/302-9166, Purchasing Agent General Specifications: 161st Air Refueling Wing, Phoenix Air National Guard has a requirement for four mobile access equipment stands to carry out maintenance work on the KC 135 aircraft. The access equipment stands should be constructed of material that will allow easy manueverability around the aircraft without the use of powered operated machinery. The systems shall not be less than 95% corrosion proof on all galvanized steel and aluminum parts. The units shall allow clear unobstructed access to the vertical fin, horizontal stabilizer, lower compartment door, wing trailing edge and cargo door. Manufacturer must be ISO 9000 certified. The access stairs shall have 6" high/6" low parallelogram type stairs fitted with galvanized non-slip treads. All stands shall be fitted with no less than 8" swivel casters for easy movement. The tail stand will have a portside and starboard side able to be joined and seperated with hand tools. Each stand will have 4 verticle fin levels, horizontal stabilizer level andand APU access level. The stands are to be robust and rigid in structure and remain light weight enough to be moved manually. The verticle stabilizer will have 4 levels of access. The levels will be at 6'9" intervals with complete access to both sides of the vertical stabilizer and the leading and trailing edge. The horizontal stabilizer deck will be slopped to follow the dihedral. There shall be a 10' guard rail with mesh at the side and trailing edge. An additional platform will be fitted to the first level of the vertical stabilizer. A split level platform fitted below the horizontal stabilizer allowing access to the APU and adjoinng panels. A ladder shall be provided to gain access from the APU to the vertical stabilizer compartment. There shall be unobstructed clearance to open the vertical fin panels, pivoting quadrant boards shall allow for full rudder swing and removal. The refueling boom must be able to be lowered and raised with the ruddervator in place without having to move the stand. Each tail dock shall have a manually operated jacking system allowing the full structure to be raised vertically by 2'. Each dock half shall have parallelogram type stairs with galvanized non-slip treads, and no less than 8" castors. The steel base shall have no less than 12" castors rated at 2425 lbs. with manually operated foot brake with 90 degree directional locks, solid polyurethane tires skydrol resistant, brakes and directional locks. Decking shall be non-slip plywood. All open sides of the stand shall have a 42" high guard rails and mid-rails. A 6" toe board at all edges. Trailing edge stands shall be comprised of 3 seperate/interlocking stands per side and provide access to the flaps and wing tip. The stands will follow the dihedral of the wing. Cargo access door stand must be 9' high from floor to platform in lowered position and 11' high in raised position. The platform shall be 8' deep by 14' long and 16" wide panel to fit between the stand and plane floor. The panels shall be 9'4" long and able to hinge back to the platform flat.
