COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 22,1998 PSA#2079437th Contracting Squadron, Charleston AFB, SC 29404-4829 Z -- PLAYGROUND INSTALLATION SOL F38610-98-QK049 DUE 051198 POC A1C
Angela Chandler, Contract Specialist (843) 963-5155 ext. 235 This
project will provide an entire playground system at the corner of Spur
and N. O'Neal Ave (behind housing units 2349 and 2347) on Charleston
AFB in Military Family Housing. Requirements are to design a playground
within the provided area using the requested equipment, provide/install
the equipment in concrete and provide/install all ground covering and
border material. Playground equipment desired is Game Time playground
Equipment for the Prime Time age Group, Fun Runner Model. Use colors
red and blue for the plastic, white for the metals and dark green for
the decks. Install a ground cover system that has sufficient drainage
provided for the surface restrains weed growth (maintenance costs), and
enhances retain ability of the ground cover (little settling and
washout). The ground cover must meet critical height requirements set
forth in ASTM F-1487 and test data must be given to prove this safety.
(Appropriate example: Fibar system provided by Game Time with approved
safety requirements). Provide and install border material to contain
the ground cover with approximately 3" clearance above ground cover
level (ie. Painted PVC pipe, smooth pine borders, Play Curb system, or
equivalent) Installation of 2-6' straight leg park benches with wood
(Douglas fir/Redwood/etc) slats and metal frames. Install 1 permanent
litter receptacle with wooden slats and fully closeable container (i.e.
Game Time #8727 or equivalent) Install a two-seat buck about (rubber
spring-loaded seesaw) system (i.e. Game Time #243 and #2313) with red
banana seats and blue equipment. Install space arch equipment (Game
Time #6485) in red, white, or blue Contractor shall design the
placement of the playground equipment within the given area and submit
to Contracting for approval. Contractor does not need to fill the
entire space, but is allowed that area for his design. Playground
layout, equipment, and borders should provide appropriate fall zone
areas and meet all playground specifications from ASTM F1487 and the
Handbook for Public Playground Safety produced by the U.S. Consumer
Product Safety Commission. Drawing for playground area layout is
available at Contracting Office per request. Use of post-consumer
recyclable products is encouraged when economically feasible. Please
fax all requests, telephone requests will not be honored. (0110) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0120 19980422\Z-0021.SOL)
