Z -- PLAYGROUND INSTALLATION SOL F38610-98-QK049 DUE 051198 POC A1C Angela Chandler, Contract Specialist (843) 963-5155 ext. 235 This project will provide an entire playground system at the corner of Spur and N. O'Neal Ave (behind housing units 2349 and 2347) on Charleston AFB in Military Family Housing. Requirements are to design a playground within the provided area using the requested equipment, provide/install the equipment in concrete and provide/install all ground covering and border material. Playground equipment desired is Game Time playground Equipment for the Prime Time age Group, Fun Runner Model. Use colors red and blue for the plastic, white for the metals and dark green for the decks. Install a ground cover system that has sufficient drainage provided for the surface restrains weed growth (maintenance costs), and enhances retain ability of the ground cover (little settling and washout). The ground cover must meet critical height requirements set forth in ASTM F-1487 and test data must be given to prove this safety. (Appropriate example: Fibar system provided by Game Time with approved safety requirements). Provide and install border material to contain the ground cover with approximately 3" clearance above ground cover level (ie. Painted PVC pipe, smooth pine borders, Play Curb system, or equivalent) Installation of 2-6' straight leg park benches with wood (Douglas fir/Redwood/etc) slats and metal frames. Install 1 permanent litter receptacle with wooden slats and fully closeable container (i.e. Game Time #8727 or equivalent) Install a two-seat buck about (rubber spring-loaded seesaw) system (i.e. Game Time #243 and #2313) with red banana seats and blue equipment. Install space arch equipment (Game Time #6485) in red, white, or blue Contractor shall design the placement of the playground equipment within the given area and submit to Contracting for approval. Contractor does not need to fill the entire space, but is allowed that area for his design. Playground layout, equipment, and borders should provide appropriate fall zone areas and meet all playground specifications from ASTM F1487 and the Handbook for Public Playground Safety produced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Drawing for playground area layout is available at Contracting Office per request. Use of post-consumer recyclable products is encouraged when economically feasible.
