503-273-5375 The Portland VA Medical Center (PVAMC) located at 3710 SW
U.S. Veterans Hospital Road, Portland, Oregon, wishes to enter into an
indefinite-quantity contract for one year, with a six month option to
extend, for services of temporary inpatient and outpatient pharmacists
and inpatient pharmacy technicians. Contractor staff will be used to
cover for vacant inpatient and outpatient pharmacists and pharmacy
technicians during the recruitment process of permanent staff or to
fill gaps resulting from sick leave or vacation leave that VA is unable
to cover with current staff. Inpatient pharmacists will perform
prescription verification of unit dose orders, order entry and
verification of IV admixtures, provide technical guidance to pharmacy
technicians, perform other pharmacist duties typical to an inpatient
pharmacy program. Outpatient pharmacist will perform prescription
entry, verification of filled prescriptions and release functions and
provide patient counseling in the outpatient pharmacy, perform other
pharmacist duties typical to an outpatient pharmacy program. Inpatient
pharmacy technicians perform preparation of IV admixtures and
distributive functions such as filling medication cars and running
routine and stat medications to the floors and units, assist with ward
inspections for outdated medications, and perform other pharmacy
technicians duties typical to an inpatient pharmacy program. Contract
Pharmacists must have a current valid and unencumbered license in a
State, Territory of Commonwealth of the United States or the District
of Columbia. Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians must be certified in either
a State or National certification program, i.e., National Certification
Board Incorporated, National Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
Inpatient Pharmacist must have a minimum of one-year experience in a
hospital setting. Outpatient Pharmacist must have a minimum of one-year
experience in either a retail or hospital setting. Services of contract
staff will be scheduled on an as needed basis by the Administrative or
Clinical Director of Pharmacy Service or designee. Contract staff will
be asked to provide support in any of the of three Divisions -- 3710 SW
U.S. Veterans Hospital Road, Portland; 8909 SW Barbur Boulevard,
Portland; 1601 East 4th Plain, Vancouver, Washington -- or as otherwise
determined by the Administrative or Clinical Director. We currently
have a need for full time inpatient and outpatient pharmacist coverage
Monday through Friday: Inpatient Pharmacist in Vancouver from 8 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m.; Inpatient Pharmacist in Portland from 3 p.m. to 11:30
p.m.; and an Outpatient Pharmacist at Barbur Boulevard from 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. A commercial item request for proposal will be issued on or
