12 -- ENHANCED FIRE CONTROL DEVICE FOR THE M203 40MM GRENADE LAUNCHER SOL DAAE30-98-R-0413 DUE 051898 POC Darren Ward, Project Engineer WEB: US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC Procurement Network, http://procnet.pica.army.mil/procacts.htm. E-MAIL: Darren Ward, dward@pica.army.mil.. Potential sources and market availability information are sought for an enhanced fire control device/system for the M203, 40mm grenade launcher when mounted on M4 and M16A4 rifles. (These rifles have flat top upper receivers.) The enhanced device/system shall provide increased performance over the current Leaf and Quadrant sights on 1 X 1 meter "point", and 10 X 50 meter "area" targets at ranges out to 400 meters. The enhanced device/system shall have finer range compensation (10 meters or better resolution desired) than the current Leaf (50 meters) and Quadrant (25 meters) sights. Having the two separate sights combined into one fire control device/system will help reduce the integration problems associated with the M4 and M16A4 weapon accessories. The enhanced device/system shall provide ambidextrous use by the rifleman/grenadier. It shall be attachable to the weapon system by the rifleman using no tools. It shall not diminish the existing firing rate of the M203 grenade launcher (5 rounds per minute) or the M4/M16A4. It is desired that the weight of the enhanced device/system not exceed 12 ounces if no advanced sensors are used and 24 ounces if they are. Performance characteristics of the M203 are available upon request. Interested parties should submit information describing the characteristics and capabilities of any existing hardware that is readily adaptable to the M203, and/or concepts that can be implemented through the adaptation/integration of existing components. Submissions should include any available pictures, illustrations, sample hardware, commercial price lists or estimated unit price, and should indicate if sample hardware meeting the above requirements will be available for delivery to the Government by 31 Jan 99. This notice is a Market Survey and should not be construed as a commitment by the Government. Respondents should submit their data within 30 days from the date of this publication to U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-AR-FSF-R, Darren Ward, Bldg 18, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, or via email to dward@pica.army.mil. Faxes may be sent to (973)724-3157. Telephone requests shall not be accepted. (0106)
