material, equipment, transportation, mobilization, and demobilization
for the construction of a 10, 600 GSF station building, a 2,500 GSF
covered mooring with wave break supported on a fixed concrete pier with
prestressed concrete piling and a 100 LF concrete float. The USCG
facility is located within the Bellingham city limits on government
owned property. The two story station building will have
administration, communications center and temporary berthing spaces.
The one story maintenance portion has spaces for storage, shops, office
and locker rooms. Building construction consists of timber piling, cast
in place reinforced grade beams, pile caps and floor slabs, timber
framing and trusses, reinforced CMU block wall, asphalt shingle roofing
and vinyl siding. The metal building covered mooring contains office,
shop and storage loft spaces and re-use of the existing concrete float
with new prestressed concrete piling. A fixed timber walkway provides
access from the shore to the covered mooring. Waterfront construction
consists of prestressed concrete piling, timber piling, steel H
piling, pre-cast concrete planks, and timber skirting, The concrete
float will have water, telephone, power and boat shore ties. Included
are site work, utilities, mechanical, electrical, and
telecommunications systems. Site work includes utility connections and
services for water, sanitary, storm drainage, natural gas, power, and
telecommunications. New asphalt paving, concrete driveways, sidewalks,
curbs and gutters, and landscaping will be installed. Demolition
includes removal of the existing floating covered mooring, concrete
floats, utilities, fixed accessway, and timber piling. Estimated price
range is $2 to $3 million. Duration of the project is 12 months. Plans
and specifications will be available on or about 8 May 1998 and must be
ordered in writing. There is a nonrefundable charge of $25.00 for each
