The Volpe Center plans to procure a sole source Simplified Acquisition to Science Applications International Corporation, McLean, VA, to provide technical support to cover safety issues relating to using alternative fuels (AF) in transit applications in the U.S. The contractor will be required to track and augment the database of alternative fuel (AF) developments, safety issues and accidents occurring in transit applications, this will include identifying AF system and component failures in transit use and in other transportation applications. This will provide the Volpe Center with a quick response support to react to and assess the causes of safety incidents such as component and system failures, fuel releases, fires and injuries that happen from the use of AFs. Small Business firms classified under SIC Code 8731 that are interested in proposing on this requirement must demonstrate in writing within 15 days from the date of publication that they have a database that contains incidents of compressed and liquefied natural gas, hydrogen, propane and alcohol fuels which will help the Volpe Center understand the safety and health issues and problems associated with the adoption of alternative fuels.
