The work consists of maintenance dredging of the Cohasset Harbor Federal navigation channel and anchorage areas, and four areas outside the limits of the Federal navigation project. Three of these areas outside the project limits involve improvement dredging and one maintenance and improvement. About 107,000 cubic yards of silt and sand material will be dredged and disposed of at the Massachusettss Bay Disposal Site (MBDS). The project will provide an anchorage area in the inner harbor, seven feet deep at Mean Low Water and about 16.25 acres in area; a channel eight feet deep and 90 feet wide, from the outer harbor to the anchorage area; and 12.45 acres of additional anchorage area, six feet deep as follows: 3.8 acres in Cohasset Cove, 3.25 acres in the vicinity of Government Island Cove and 5.4 acres in Bailey Creek. A confined aquatic disposal demonstration project will be conducted at the MBDS: material dredged from Cohasset Cove and Bailey's Creek will be capped using material dredged from the mainanchorage and the entrance channel. The estimated cost range is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 90 calendar days aftr receipt of a Notice to Proceed. Plans and Specifications will be available or or about 5/13/98 at a cost of $20.00 per set. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District. (0104)
