The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a requirement for a contractor to provide descriptive and interpretive laboratory animal histopathological evaluations incorporating up-to-date methods, equipment, QA procedures and pathology expertise. Scope of work will involve: euthanasia of experimental laboratory animal test species; routine necropsy, specialized necropsy procedures, serum collection, preservation, identification, and fixation of tissues for further histological processing including but not limited to paraffin, plastic, or frozen section; and packaging tissues for cryo-preservation. The work will take place on-site (EPA Facilities, Research Triangle Park, NC) and at contractor's facilities. It is anticipated that an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) task order contract will result from the award of this solicitation. This acquisition is for a total potential of 60 months, a base period of 12 months and four 12 month options. The Government anticipates 1,500 direct labor hours per 12 months with optional quantity hours totaling 1,500. The total potential hours for the base period and each option period is 3,000. Total potential hours for the base and option periods is 15,000 over 60 months. It is anticipated that RFP PR-NC-98-10301 will be issued on or around April 27, 1998 and close thirty days thereafter.
