rosenbal@spawar.navy.mil. BIOLOGICAL WARFARE DEFENSE (BWD). The SPAWAR
Systems Center Charleston intends to award a $1.1 million Research and
Development (R&D) sole-source contract to Lady Davis Institute for
Medical Research, Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital, McGill
University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in support of the Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) BWD program. Lady Davis
Institute for Medical Research will investigate the identities of human
longevity assurance genes (hLAGs) and human longevity assurance factors
(hLAFs). Human responsiveness to environmental insults such as toxins
and infectious diseases varies from individual to individual. Lady
Davis Institute for Medical Research hypothesizes that those
individuals, centenarians, who 100 years or more may possess defenses
against such toxin and infectious environmental insults, which are
extremely efficient. Lady Davis is the only source capable of
performing this work because of the expertise in this field. This
action is a result of an unsolicited proposal. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT
