ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY MODELING & SIMULATION CONFERENCE The Department of Defense extends an invitation to the Second Annual Environmental Security Modeling & Simulation Conference to be held on May 4th through 6th, 1998, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Alexandria, VA. This year's theme will be "Integrated Environmental Modeling & Simulation" and will focus on expanding the use of modeling & simulation in environmental decision-making thorough leveraged management and public/private partnerships. The first day of the conference will highlight the use of modeling & simulation for environmental restoration (cleanup) and feature the vision and activities of DoD, DOE, EPA, and industry. Day two will feature the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Technology, Dr. Jacques Gansler, who will address the ways DoD integrates environmental concerns and modeling & simulation into the weapons acquisition process. Afternoon breakout sessions will include presentations of case studies in pollution prevention, compliance, and conservation. The third day will include technical demonstrations and additional presentations relevant to environmental security modeling & simulation, and will emphasize current successful applications, model selection, and sources of technical support. The cost to attend the conference is $150 per person. The conference will be held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Mark Center, located at 5000 Seminary Road in Alexandria, Virginia.
