North Cascades National Park Service Complex will issue a Request for Quotations for the removal of four underground storage tanks (USTs), their associate appurtenances, and contaminated soils (if encountered) located at two sites within Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Three of the tanks hold 2000 gallons, the fourth holds 500 gallons; all were used to store unleaded gasoline. Both locations are remote, one (Hozomeen) requiring travel through Canada and the other (Ross Dam) requiring barge transport to the site. Prospective quoters are encouraged to visit each site and may do so by contacting the park to make the necessary arrangements. Site visits at Hozomeen will be held only on April 14 and 15, 1998. Quoters must be certified to transport hazardous materials in Washington state and will be required to obtain the necessary permits, licenses, and/or certifications to transport hazardous materials through Canada. The Standard Industrial Code is 1629 (Heavy Construction, Not Elsewhere Classified). The size standard is $17 million. The proposed solicitation is open to all sources in accordance with FAR Part 19.10, Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. A firm fixed price contract will be awarded on or about May 28, 1998.
