COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 1,1998 PSA#2064SMOKE/OBSCURANTS SYMPOSIUM XX -- 28-30 APRIL 1998, EDGEWOOD AREA
CONFERENCE CENTER, ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MARYLAND The theme of the
twentieth symposium is "Smoke in Transition". The ability to take and
control a strategic geographic location(s) can determine the outcome of
a single battle or an entire campaign. Many time success of the initial
thrust to control strategic locations depends on preventing the enemy
from early detection, acquisition, and engagement or maneuvering
forces. This is especially critical with the advent of smart weapons on
the battlefield. The ability to make use of smoke as well as natural
obscurants can serve to enhance the survivability of friendly forces.
Researchers conducting studies in the areas of weapon systems
development, combat tactics and doctrine, smoke systems and materiel
development and interactive evaluations of system performance in
realistic battlefield environments as well as members of the Department
of Defense, industry, academia and allied nations are invited to come
and share their knowledge and experience. For additional symposium
information please contact STC Meeting Services International, Judy C.
