COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 31,1998 PSA#2063JPL, Attn: Thomas May, Mail Stop 190-205, 4800 Oak Grove Dr., Pasadena,
CA 91109-8099 A -- NASA/JPL INFLATABLE DEPLOYABLE SPACE STRUCTURES SOL 98/9 DUE
041498 POC Gerald T. O'Connell (818) 354-4885 E-MAIL: CBD for NASA/JPL
Space Structures, gerald.t.oconnell@jpl.nasa.gov. The Jet Propulsion
Laboratory/California Institute of Technology (JPL/CIT), operating
under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA), has been chartered with the task of providing an
opportunity for the space flight validation of key technology
breakthroughs for inflatable deployable space structures that may have
the potential for significant cost reduction while enabling science
missions in the 21st Century. The objective of this announcement is to
identify serious candidates from the NASA, DOD, academic and
commercial communities with the capabilities for conceptual
development, detail design and proof-of-concept hardware development
for high-payoff inflatable structures. The first step in this process
will entail the issuance of a formal letter of solicitation (during
April 1998) to be sent to each responder to this synopsis. The next
step is expected to involve a three (3) week response period for
submittal of short technical "white" papers presenting your proposed
experiment. A down-selection process will ensue (targeted for May 1998)
resulting in the selection of up to five (5) candidates, who will then
be requested to submit formal experiment proposals/cost information.
This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). If you are interested in
participating in this effort, please e-mail: (1) your company name; (2)
address; (3) phone/fax numbers; and (4) a point of contact to:
