SECOND ROUND OF ESSP MISSIONS; AO Point of Contact (POC) Dr. Prasad
Gogineni, Telephone (202) 358-0746 The National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA) intends to release the Announcement of
Opportunity (AO) for the next set of Earth System Science Pathfinder
(ESSP) missions on or about April 13, 1998. The ESSP Program is
intended to provide a flexible opportunity to stimulate new scientific
observations of the global Earth system by encouraging innovation in
instrumentation and strategies for acquiring and distributing new
datasets. This AO solicits proposals for complete investigations of
significant Earth System Science questions that meet the objectives of
the ESSP Program. The AO will be available electronically via the
Internet at the Earth Science Enterprise "Home Page": HYPERLINK
http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/mtpe/ under the "ESE Research
Announcements" section or via anonymous ftp at: HYPERLINK
ftp://ftp.hq.nasa.gov/office/mtpe/ or at the ESSP Project "Home Page":

be made available to those who do not have access to the internet by
calling (202) 358-3552 and leaving a voice mail message. Please leave
your full name and address, including zip code, and your telephone
number, including area code. This solicitation is open to all
categories of organizations including educational institutions,
industry, nonprofit institutions, NASA Field Centers, and other
governmental agencies, as well as foreign research institutions. A
preproposal conference will be held on April 28, 1998. The conference
will be held at the Crystal City Sheraton in Crystal City, Virginia
from 8:30 am to 5:00 p.m. Additional information concerning the
