R -- FILE MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR PUBLIC SEARCH ROOMS AT THE U.S. PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE SOL 52-PAPT-8-00017 POC David Zelnick, Contracting Officer (703-305-8068); Joan Hanicak, Contract Specialist (703-305-8068) The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) plans to acquire services to support the file maintenance requirements of the Patent Search Branch and the Trademark Search Branch. The services to be provided are filing, binding and maintaining U.S. patents and microfilm collections. The services will also include filing and maintaining registered, abandoned and pending trademarks as well as microfilm and bound volume collections. PTO anticipates this acquisition to be a base year with four (4) additional one (1) year options. This requirement is designated as a Small Business set-aside under Standard Industrial Classification Code 8231. This competitive acquisition will be conducted utilizing a streamlined acquisition process, as described in a document entitled "Department of Commerce Acquisition Process Case for Change" which can be found on the Internet at http://www.conops.doc.gov. The intent of this process is to provide an improved acquisition environment which will benefit Contractors as well as the Government. On approximately April 1, 1998, the first part of this process will begin with the issuance of a Project Agreement which will be available on the Internet at http://www.uspto.gov/go/conops/. In utilizing this acquisition process, the Project Agreement will serve as the solicitation document for this requirement.
