41 -- XJ1 REFRIGERATION SYSTEM SOL F40650-98-R-0013 DUE 042398 POC Kathy P. Swanson, Contract Specialist, 931-454-4409 This procurement is for turn-key job to replace an existing R-12 refrigeration unit at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee, The work includes demolishing the existing unit, the associated piping, and the refrigerant cooler coils and replacing with a new system, including a refrigerant storage system using the environmentally friendly R-134a refrigerant. The demolition of the old system includes asbestos and lead abatement. The capacity is approximately 2,000-ton comfort coil unit based on performance requirements of the system as noted in the specification. The unit is known as the XJ1 refrigeration system located at the Engine Test Facility-A Air Supply Plant (ETF-A) in the Air Supply Building (No. 881). The cooler coils are and shall be located in what is known as the Low Stage Cooler of the ETF-A which is external to the Air Supply Building (No. 881). The scheduling of work in the Low Stage cooler is crucial to the AEDC Operations effort. This work is to be accomplished in two phases: (1) removal and (2) re-installation. The period of performance (work downtime) for each phase shall be 21 days. The phases shall be scheduled separately. The estimated period for removal shall be September 1998, and re-installation shall be December 1998. Special standards of responsibility apply to this acquisition in accordance with FAR 9.104-2(a).
