Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Research Services (ORS),
Veterinary Resources Program (VRP) has a requirement for various
strains and stocks of barrier reared and maintained rabbits, rats,
mice, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs, of the specified health
status, sexes, ages, weights, gestations, surgical and technical
procedures, embryo cryoperservation and rederivation services,
quarantine services, MAP, RAP & HAP testing of biological samples,
antibody production, blood, tissues, organs, crates and shipping, as
requested by individual orders to meet the needs of NIH Investigators.
The Contractor shall be regularly engaged in the breeding, raising,
and shipping of the species of animals specified herein. The animals,
tissues, organs, and blood or serum supplied under this contract shall
be maintained and collected in the Contractor's facilities. Animals
supplied under this contract shall be reared and maintained in the
Contractor's facilities. The Contractor is required to comply with all
applicable federal, state and local laws, regulation and standards
governing animal welfare while performing under this contract. The
Contractor shall be accredited by the Association for Assessment and
Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) or shall
be eligible for accreditation. Contract animal health programs and
procedures shall be compliant with the latest version in effect of the
Guide for the Care & Use of Laboratory Animals and the PHS Policy on
Humane Care & Use of Laboratory Animals. Contractors shall have an
Assurance Document on file with the NIH, Office for the Protection from
Research Risks (OPRR) and be registered with the USDA for Animal
Welfare Act covered species. Multiple awards will be made as a result
of this requirement. The period of performance will be for one twelve
(12) month period, with options to renew for six (6) additional twelve
(12) month periods. All responsible sources may submit a proposal
