R -- PROVIDE BIOLOGICAL SERVICES FOR THE NMML, SEATTLE, WA SOL WASC909 POC Randall Brown (voice) (206)526-6226/FAX (206) 526-6025 Provide biological services for the National Marine Mammal Lab (NMML) in Seattle, WA for a one-year period. Contractor will provide a variety of biological tasks both in the field and in the laboratory including surveying and censusing pinnipeds and other marine mammals in coastal and river systems of Oregon and Washington, collecting samples of pinniped stomachs from stranded animals and from scat samples collected on-site, estimating predation from observations of predation in specific areas, processing and analyzing food habit samples to determine age, cutting and reading marine mammal teeth for age analysis, and collecting and preparing fish specimens. Contractor must possess a minimum bachelor's degree in fisheries/biology. Contractor must also possess experience in operating small boats 16-24 feet long in coastal and river systems of the Pacific Northwest since much of the work will be done in the field. Contractor must also possess experience in marine navigation, experience in capture and handling of California sea lions and harbor seals, and experience in attaching radio transmitters on both species. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0063)
