66 -- SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET FOR HALL EFFECT IMAGING SOL NHLBI-HL-P-98-238 POC Gina M. Cianflone, Contract Specialist, 301-435-0363 The Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics, Division of Intramural Research, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (LCE, DIR, NHLBI, NIH) intends to acquire a a superconducting high field magnet for a Hall effect imaging platform. The superconducting magnet for hall effect imaging shall meet or exceed the following requirements: (1) The field strength at the central 20 cm diameter sphere of the useful volume shall be higher than 5.5 tesla. For reasonable magnet size and power consumption, a superconducting magnet is required. (2) The empty bore diameter of the magnet shall be 60 cm or higher. (3) The overall length of the magnet along its cylindrical axis, including cryogenics and all support structures shall be 60cm or less. (4) The offeror shall provide information on all devices related to the maintenance and safety of the magnet, such as cryostat monitoring devices and emergency quench devices. (5) The offeror shall specify the liquid helium and liquid nitrogen consumption levels of the magnet if they are used, and the filling schedule. (6) The offeror shall provide field distribution plots of the magnet for the usable high field volume and the stray field. (7) The offeror shall deliver and install the magnet to the site furnished by NIH and bring the magnet up to its stable operating field strength. All specifications must be met at the NIH site. (8) The offeror shall provide information on the long-term temporal stability of the magnet. (9) The offeror shall provide information on warranty and repair. A firm fixed-price type contract will be negotiated. Delivery and installation shall occur within twelve (12) months after contract award. Tests will be performed to ascertain that the equipment is functional before final acceptance. This solicitation is not a set-aside. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC) is 3821, size standard 500 employees. RFP Number NHLBI-HL-P-98-238 will be available on or about March 23, 1998. Interested parties should submit a written request (via mail or facsimile transmission to 301-480-3345) for a copy of solicitation number NHLBI-HL-P-98-238 to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, Building RKL2, Room 6150A, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-7902, Attention: Gina M.
