ASNE DAY '98 MARCH 3-4, 1998, SHERATON WASHINGTON HOTEL, WASHINGTON, DC Naval Engineers from across the country will assemble in Washington, D.C. Tuesday and Wednesday, March 3-4 to participate in The American Society of Naval Engineers' ASNE Day '98. The two-day event will feature talks by key Navy and industry leaders, technical papers covering a full range of naval engineering topics, exhibits of new products and services, ASNE's professional awards presentations, and many networking opportunities. A high-level plenary session centering on Warfare Systems Engineering kicks off the Technical Program on Tuesday morning. VAdm. George R. Sterner, USN, Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command; VAdm. John A. Lockard, USN, Commander, Naval Air Systems Command; and RAdm. George F. A. Wagner, USN, Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command will discuss initiatives to assure transparent interoperability of ship and air combat, command, decision and C4I systems in the Battle Force. Following these Keynotes, a panel of senior representatives from the Fleet, OPNAV, and PEOs, moderated by Mr. Joseph R. Cipriano, Deputy Commander for Warfare Systems, Naval Sea Systems Command, will give their perspective on meeting this daunting engineering challenge in a resource constrained environment. The Technical Program also includes sessions on Ship Design, Machinery Systems, Advanced Sensors, Hydrodynamics & Simulation, Advanced Control Technology, and Acquisition Reform/COTS. The Honorable John H. Dalton, Secretary of the Navy addresses the attendees at the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday afternoon. The Awards Luncheon honors Technical Session authors and moderators, as well as the winners of the Society's Solberg and Jones awards. The ASNE Day '98 Banquet honors the Society's prestigious Saunders and Gold Medal Award winners on Wednesday evening. Mr. James E. Turner, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer of General Dynamics Corporation will give the Banquet address. There will be a large exhibit hall open on both days of the meeting featuring over 100 companies and organizations offering information on new developments and products important to naval engineering. Admission to the exhibit hall is free. All professionals involved in naval engineering and related fields are invited to attend, and should not miss this excellent opportunity to see the state of the art in their discipline.
