POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Patricia Haun,
Contracting Officer The National Inst. of Health, National Institute of
Neurologic Diseases and Stroke (NINDS) intends to contract with Biacore
Inc., 200 Centennial Ave., Ste.#200, Piscataway, N.J., 08854, for the
purchase of a Biacore X Processing System, w/ active temperature
controls, Cat.#BR-1100-29 and X system Accessories. The Biomolecular
Interaction Analysis System shall be capable of the following: 1. The
instruments shall have two flow cells that are mounted simultaneously.
This shall allow samples to be studied for binding to at least two
different target proteins and reduces seperating expenses. 2. The
instrument shall use removable sensor chips that may be directly
interfaced with a mass spectrophotometer. This shall allow the direct
determination of molecular weight of proteins that bind to the sensors
surface. 3. The instrument shall use continuous flow of sample and
buffer delivery. This shall allow for automatic washing of flow cells
and permits rapid exchange for the direct determination of off rates.
4.The instrument shall include software capable of global data
analysis. 5. Shall be capable of detecting low molecular weight
molecules (200 molecular weight) with drift less than 0.3 resonance
units/min. and noise less than 0.6 resonance units. 6. Shall include
start-up reagents and a interactive CD Rom for training. 7. Shall be
able to reuse the same biospecific sensor chip at least 50 times for
repeated sample analysis. 8. Shall have at least 8 different sensors
surfaces, including flat carboxyl, short dextran, low charge dextran,
and low density dextran. 9. The contractor shall provide a Year 2000
Warranty for each hardware, software, and firmware product delivered
under this contract. The contractor shall be able to accurately process
the data (including, but not be limited to, calculating comparing, and
sequencing) from, into, and tetween the twentieth and tewenty-first
centuries and for the Year 2000 and leap year calculations. Nothing in
this warranty shall be construed to limit any rights or remediesthe
Government may otherwise have under this contract with respect to
defects other than Year 2000 performance. This is not a request for
competitive quotes. However, vendors may submit their qualification
packages. The submission must be in writing and must contain sufficient
detail so that a determination can be made regarding meeting the
governments requirements. The submission must be received by the COB,
