Bechtel National, Inc., acting as agent for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program (CSDP), intends to competitively solicit proposals to provide 6 centrifugal pumps, 2 each for three current sites, with the option for additional pumps for future sites that may be exercised through the year 2001. The pumps shall be built per data sheet and specification requirements. They shall be fitted with standard connections. Metric threaded connections are not acceptable. The pumps will be used for quench brine containing HCl, HF, H2CO3, NaCl, NaF, Na2CO3, Na2SO4, NaHSO4, NaHSO3, Na3PO4, Na2HPO4, NaH2PO4, NaNO3, H2O. Hydrochloric acid is present in trace quantities at all times in the stream. During normal operation, the pH ranges from 5.5 to 8, which, in the worst case of pH=5.5, results in a maximum HCl concentration of 10-5.5 molar (about 10-5% by weight). The rated flow is in the range of 585 to 685 gpm @ 297 to 329 feet TDH, 173 degrees F. The NPSHA is 15 ft. The material selection and motor selection are per manufacturer's standard. Delivery to the current sites will be required by November 1998. This procurement is unrestricted with regard to business size. Evidence of shop capacity and capability to perform projects of this size, type, and complexity, on schedule, will be required. This solicitation will be issued approximately 09 March 1998 and RFP closing will be approximately 30 days thereafter.
