COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 20,1998 PSA#2036National Imagery and Mapping Agency, PCU/D-88, 4600 Sangamore Road,
Bethesda, MD 20816-5003 70 -- CD-R DUPLICATOR SOL NMA201-98-R-0023 DUE 031098 POC Contracting
Officer, Linda Grasso, (301) 227-2158, FAX (301) 227-2218/5573 This
announcement is amendment 01 to solicitation NMA201-98-R-0023 which was
originally published in the Commerce Business Daily 6 February 1998.
This amendment is required to answer technical questions concerning the
CD-R Duplicator requirements. The synopsis/solicitation remains for
commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart FAR
12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this
notice. Question #1: Does the user want to duplicate 20 CD's from one
master simultaneously (referred to a 1 to 20) or do they want to
duplicate 20 CD's from 20 different masters simultaneously (referred to
as 20 to 20)? Answer: The user wants the capability to duplicate from
any number of masters between 1 and 20 to any number of CD's between 1
and 20 simultaneously ('x' to 'x'). Question #2: Since RAID comes in
many configurations, please be specific about the total usable RAID
space required? What RAID levels are required? (0,1,0+1,3,5)? Answer:
The total usable disk space required is 6.3 Gbytes. The RAID level
required is RAID Level 0 (zero). Question #3: Since there appears to be
a requirement to remove certain hard drives, we assume, but would like
it clarified that the RAID system must be external to the server.
Answer: As mentioned in the original posting, the system should have
two complete sets of hard drives. Each set of drives will contain the
operating system. This will allow the user to use the system to process
two different levels of classified data. The ethernet card will allow
the system to be connected to a server, but the system may only serve
as a stand-alone system. Question #4: What is an AV rated hard drive?
This is not an industry standard that I am aware of. Answer: With the
advent of audio, video, CD-R writing and various other applications,
the need for an uninterrupted flow of data is required. Various hard
drive manufactures have developed hard drives that would perform
recalibration on the fly without any interruptions to the data flow.
These hard drives are labeled as "AV" drives, (aka "Audio Video" or
"multimedia drives"). AV drives are capable of sustaining an
uninterrupted flow of large amounts of data. Question #5: If you
respond to these questions in CBD, how will we be able to locate the
response? Answer: The answers will be posted on the CBD. Proposal due
date is hereby extended to 10 March 1998, 3:00 P.M., local time.
Facsimile requests are NOT acceptable. All other information publicized
in the original synopsis is correct. (0049) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0284 19980220\70-0002.SOL)
