Witmayer (702/798-2689) DESC: The Environmental protection Agency (EPA)
announces its intent to support a competition in Fiscal Year (FY) 1998
as part of a new program called Environmental Monitoring for Public
Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT). The EPA is seeking applications
for assistance to establish EMPACT pilot programs that demonstrate
innovative and effective ways to monitor, deliver, and communicate
scientifically sound information to citizens. Proposed projects
(activities) may address one or more time-relevant environmental
parameters related to air quality, water quality, ecosystem quality, or
other environmental conditions of concern to the public. This Pilot
Project seeks to award up to three activities, with a projected award
range up to $100K for a single activity over the total life of the
project, (12 to 24 months). Activities selected for funding under this
competition will be awarded Cooperative Agreements. This solicitation
is limited to eligible organizations within the Las Vegas metropolitan
