Bighorn Canyon, National Recreation Area is soliciting Invitation for Bids to furnish materials, fabricating components, drilling & fastening structural rock bolts, & complete installation of a steel guide column Anchor System to secure an existing dock system. The Anchor System secures a floating marina dock system with slips for (40) boats up to 26' long. The dock location at Ok-A-Beh Marina, Fort Smith, Montana, cannot change over 70' vertically. One side has a gangway access ramp & the other side has a floating walkway/boat gas dock. Because of these factors & other operations the Anchor System's fabrication & installation must be precisely constructed and installed. The Anchor System will consist of (2) 12" diameter pipe guide columns, each approximately 80' long. These must be installed vertically, and parallel to each other onto the face of a canyon wall. Water at this location directly below the Anchor System averages 35' deep. 100' away from the canyon wall, the water is over 300' deep. The guide columns must be secured to the canyon wall at different elevation points with steel plates & structural rock bolts approximately 20' deep into the canyon wall. The work also includes fabrication & installation of steel stiff arms, roller brackets, truss rods, king post, struts, connections, & floats with walkway/platform attachments as part of the Anchor System. There is a limited time of opportunity to begin & complete all work since the lake water elevation is lowest during the late spring and then begins to rise and reaches full pool by July. This contract will be considered construction, firm fixed price. Solicitation packages will be made available by request on March 16, 1998; must be received in this office by April 15, 1998; & completion of installation depending on lake levels. Government estimate price range is $50,000 to $70,000 dellivered and install at Ok-A-Beh Marina. (0041)
