of Prisons intends to award a Non-Personal service contract for
Cardiologist Services. Duties are to be performed at the Federal
Correctional Institution, Cumberland, Maryland. The contractor will be
responsible for the following: Study, diagnose, and treat medical
disorders in the area of cardiac disorders; organize and record data
concerning patient, family, personal, medical, and mental history;
determine onset of symptoms obtained from patients and other sources to
determine type of treatment needed; examine patients with chronic
diseases which affect the heart that require daily medication and
monitoring; order laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and
evaluate data obtained; monitor patients who are on a medication that
can cause diseases of the heart; provide follow through on patients
screened by the Medical Doctor; provide follow up care to inmates who
have had cardiac surgery in the community hospital; provide quality
documentation and activities for patients treated. Due to the nature of
this contract, all individuals working within the institution will be
required to submit to Security Clearances. This will be a competitive
procurement with award being made to the offeror determined to be in
the best interest of the government, price and price related factors
considered. Services will be required during the normal work week, an
estimated two (2) sessions per quarter (1 session = 4 hours), for an
estimated eight (8) sessions per year. The base year of the contract
shall run for twelve (12) months from the date of award with four (4)
one year option periods for renewal with an anticipated award date of
October 1, 1998. it is anticipated that the solicitations will be
mailed approximately March 3, 1998 with an approximate due date of
April 30, 1998. It is anticipated that this solicitation will result in
a Firm-Fixed Price Requirements Type Contract. This solicitation is
100% set-aside for small business concerns. All responsible sources may
submit a bid which will be considered for award. Requests for
