Development (USAID) Mission to El Salvador is seeking proposals from
qualified US organizations interested in providing technical assistance
for the implementation of the Rural Financial Markets (RFM) Activity.
The estimate for performance of the work required falls within a range
from $8,000,000 to 12,000,000. RFM is a five-year effort aimed at
providing technical assistance to rurally-focused financial
institutions in El Salvador, serving the microenterprise sector, to
help them obtain self-sustainability by improving their financial
performance, and to expand and deepen coverage of financial services to
rural, poverty level microentrepreneurs. The Contractor selected under
this RFP will be expected to provide these services and accomplish the
expected results throughout the life of the Activity. Subcontracting
with Gray Amendment entities is encouraged to the maximum extent
practivable. To help identify potential subcontractors, a list of all
organizations requesting a copy of the solicitation document will be
sent with each solicitation document. Organizations are encouraged to
indicate whether they are Gray Amendment entities when requesting the
solicitation and may indicate that they do not wish to be included on
the list, USAID does not endorse the listed organizations of being
capable of carring out the activity, nor does USAID verify the claimed
status of the organizations. Necessarily, the list will contain the
names of only those known prior to the issuance of the solicitation
document. RFP-El Sal 98-012 will be available on or after February 5,
1998. Interested organizations may receive a copy by written request

will not take the place of the hard copy distribution, the preferred
