The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the fabrication of ten non-magnetic stainless steel (304) neutron shields for neutron guides to be installed for the agency's Spin-Echo Spectrometer. The fabricated neutron shields shall be made of welded non-magnetic stainless steel plates. Eight of the ten shields shall be made of 1/2 inch thick plate; the remaining two shields shall be made of 3/8 inch plate. All welding shall be continuous and waterproof. The top plate (roof) in each shield shall have circular openings so that special shielding material may be poured into the shield. The Contractor shall furnish all material, equipment, and labor to fabricate these shields. All shields shall be checked by the Government prior to final welding. The shields shall be leak-tested in the presence of a Government representative, who shall approve them prior to delivery. All ten shields shall be delivered within 30 days after date of contract award. FOB Point is Destination, Gaithersburg, MD. The Contractor's facility shall be located within an approximate 30-mile radius of the NIST site in Gaithersburg, MD. Complete specifications and detailed shop drawings shall be issued with the Quotation Package. All responsible small business firms may submit a quote which shall be considered by the Agency.
