43 -- BOOSTER AIR COMPRESSER SOL 98-4715-0004 DUE 021698 POC Maribel Torres, (650) 329-4171 E-MAIL: Maribel Torres, Western Region, mtorres@wr.usgs.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Menlo Park, California inteds to place a purchase order for a Booster Air Compressor, specifications: Must be able to accept the air produced by our Sullair air compressor on our drill rig (1100 cfm/350 psi) as the input air. Must convert the input air to discharge air having a pressure of at least 800 psi on a continual basis. Must be mounted on a heavy duty skid, with lifting eye and forklift pockets and have a dry weight of less than 6000 pounds. The unit must be of a compact design such that it can be carried by a medium size truck or trailer. Should be powered by a Diesel Engine capable of providing the necessary horsepower for operation at an economical rpm, and have a fuel tank of at least 35 gallons capacity, with fuel gage mounted on tank. Booster Compressor unit should be equipped with the following: Two-stage air cleaner, full-flow oil filter, fuel filter, fuel-water separator, air moisture separator, air pre-cooler and after-cooler. Safety shut downs: low engine oil pressure, high coolant temperature, oil cooler temperature, and air high discharge temperature, safety relief valves for inlet and discharge air, by pass unloading valve, fan and belt guard. Following gauges to be mounted on control panel: inlet air pressure gauge, discharge air pressure gauge, discharge air temperature gauge, water temperature gauge, engine oil pressure gauge, ammeter, hour meter, tachometer, start/stop switch, keyed ignition. The unit must have one 2-inch inlet valve and one 2-inch discharge valve with check valve. Must have a heavy duty electrical system and battery. Must have suitable high pressure hoses to connect with the drill rig compressor outlet and back to the drill pipe airway. Unit must have a fitted heavy duty canvas cover to protect the equipment during non-use in the field and while shipping between islands. Other required items: two (2) copies of the owners/operators manual, two (2) copies of schematics of all systems and a listing of all parts and filters, a list of recommended spare parts, four (4) ignition keys. Training: the manufacturer, at a time mutually agreed upon, shall provide in-the-field training to the USGS drill crew in Hawaii.
